León Siminiani + Virgina García del Pino Retrospective
With the presence of the directors
Virginia García del Pino and León Siminani are two essential voices in contemporary documentary cinema.
Del Pino, who holds a degree in Fine Arts from the UB, combines directing and editing with teaching. Some of her feature films such as The Jury (2012) and The Tenth Letter (2014) have premiered at festivals like San Sebastián, Punto de Vista, and FID Marseille.
Elías León Siminiani is a screenwriter, director, and producer. A graduate in Hispanic Philology and Film from Columbia University, he has a broad career as a short filmmaker, awarded at the Goya Awards for the short film Emotional Architecture 1959 (2023) and nominated for the feature film Map (2012). Moreover, his works have been selected at festivals such as Mar del Plata, Málaga, and San Sebastián.
Through spontaneous interviews, poems, fictional narratives, or first-person diaries, Del Pino and Siminiani convert the interaction between image and sound into the crucial element of their cinematic style.
